I managed to find an uncut radio faceplate. However, the surface is pitted. Has to be bead blasted - what would you suggest is the best method to replicate the factory finish? Powdercoat? A type of paint or method?

Many thanks!

I've been using a truck bed spray paint but it is a bit too textured. I think Alan recommended using a tooth brush to splatter on extra paint after you have your base coat. I will be experimenting soon with my final revision of the :D printed plate. I'll probably paint it in a few weeks.

This is the rustoleum truck bed rattle can..

looks like a satin slightly splatter. SEM makes great satin, perhaps over something that gives the texture.

Maybe if you sanded it down a little before top coating it would flatten out some and still keep a just a little texture?

It almost looks like "hammered" paint. so may try that next.

Edit: If you look at my second iteration of the 3D face plate, it is in fact hammered paint. Still a bit too much oarange peel IMO.
