Front driver's window regulator jammed in up position.

With the regulator still in place, you wouldn't be able to move the window manually. The mechanical advantage that the regulator's reduction gears utilize when driven by the motor becomes a DIS-advantage when you are applying force to the window. Your best bet is to rotate the shaft going into...

    Downdraft Linkage System question

OK, terrific. Will you recommend a specific thickness of carb-to-manifold insulator, or will the linkage work with a variety of insulator dimensions? I ask because the stock linkage will go over-center when used with Weber carburetors and too thin (or was it too thick?) insulators.

    Downdraft Linkage System question

Yes, I can believe that. So you're saying that neither the Zeniths nor Webers rely on the diaphragm for functional reasons, just an attempt to slightly reduce emissions. I doubt that many e9's are currently subject to emissions tests - none would be in our home state - so eliminating that...

    Downdraft Linkage System question

Hal: The arm & tab for the diaphragm probably isn't necessary. I have Webers on my car and removed that diaphragm many years ago; it works fine without it. Perhaps they were more critical with the original Zenith carburetors. I have been monitoring you website from time to time, checking...

    Question about welding

My next step would be to check if the coil is firing. With a coil resistance of 3.8 Ω and an electronic ignition that may have gotten fried, I would verify spark next.

    Question about welding

Do you have an electronic ignition, such as a 123 distributor or a Pertronix? Is your car carbureted or does it have electronic fuel injection? Solid state devices are sensitive to the voltage spikes that a welder can produce.

W&N - new production of rear lights

Hmm... $368.50 per side excluding VAT at this morning's exchange rate (plus shipping, tariffs, yadda yadda). It's tempting.

    Tubes In Tubeless Tyres

OK, now I understand your situation (the photos helped), but I certainly don't have the answer. It seems that your Blockey tires are just shaped improperly when not pressurized. Has anyone else besides your mobile fitter attempted to get them to seal? I wonder if he knows all the tricks, has...

    Tubes In Tubeless Tyres

Did all four wheels fail to seal? It just seems surprising that your 185/80 R14 Blockeys would be too wide (*) for stock e9 wheels, since that is the original size tire for these cars *) I presume that "the tyre beads are so far collapsed" means that your tires need a wider rim to address the...

BMW Patents Unusual Screw. Could Make Repairs Difficult...

When I read the title to this thread, I assumed that it was some sort of joke. Kind of like a metric adjustable wrench. Sometimes truth really is stranger than fiction! Or in this case, truth is funnier than humor.

A few tips on installing e28 window motors

Holy smoke! Now I understand why you have interference with the motor - it's mounted on the wrong side of the frame. You have it facing the outer side, while the factory put the motors facing the inner side. See the photos in post #2 of this thread.

    Thoughts on engine removal

The rattle can paint that you propose to use: is that something that you had custom mixed, using the same paint that was applied to the exterior? Or did you determine that Duplicolor 123 (say) is an acceptable match for BMW 060 Polaris? Thanks and good luck with your project. I too will vote...

    1972 BMW Bavaria 3.0 S 4-Speed

It has been discussed here: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/e3s-for-sale-in-the-usa-edited-title-20250917.42871/page-10 starting with post #196. A bigger issue than the engine compartment was why they didn't remove the trim before painting it:

    Voltage high 18 volts

OK, so you have a '71 and a '73. Since your picture shows an external regulator, I'm guessing that came off the '73. As sfdon wrote, "Change your regulator asap". Is your electronic tachometer still working? A bad regulator fried my tach several years ago. The Pertronix ignition too, which...

E3's for Sale in the USA (edited title 20250917)

Chris: I thought your comments were polite, given the situation. However, the seller's replies were of the "oh yea, no big deal" nature. I like this comment from BaT participant brucerudin: "Who paints a car like that? Reminds me of a $159 Earl Scheib paint job. That might have been an...

    BMW Isetta's...???

I suspect that most end up as "garage art" in someone's man cave / museum / trophy room. Parked next to the pool table, or mounted sideways on the wall, they are bought to provide decoration, not transportation. $55K? A pittance when your trophy room includes V-12 Ferraris and the like. But...

A few tips on installing e28 window motors

I just saw your most recent post, but had missed your original question last year. By now, you have probably long since solved your problem. But just out of curiosity, what was interfering? Sorry, but "elbow pin interferes with the motor housing" didn't mean much to me. What is an "elbow...

A few tips on installing e28 window motors

Yes, some circuits show the diode across the relay coil and some relays are available with a built-in diode. However, diodes across the relay coils do nothing to prevent arcing across the relay's contacts. Those diodes across the relay coils are also "flyback" diodes, but they are there to...

A few tips on installing e28 window motors

Scott explains the functioning of this circuit very well. Perhaps it's worth saying that this circuit is intended for 2-wire, e28 motors. A different circuit would be used with 3-wire, "sardine can" motors. Perhaps the inclusion of the "flyback" diodes is confusing people. The circuit will...
