Tonight I removed all my fuses to clean the contacts and discoved #2 was blown. I replaced it and went for a pleasurable ride.

Upon my return I re-checked and found the same fuse blown. All the electrical items that I use are in working order.

Can someone tell me what this fuse is for and any hints to why it is blowing - it is 8 amps.

Thank you so much,
Ken

Fuse number 2 is for License plate and instruments - it should be a 5 amp fuse, sounds like you have a short.

I had this problem too. Isolated it to the gauge light dimmer function of the headlight switch. When I rotated the switch to dim the lights, the fuse would blow and a small puff of smoke would come out of the switch. I removed the switch and blew a bunch of dust and crud out and now the 5a fuse stops blowing.
