Fellow fog/driving light enthusiasts please post your setup so we can have a look at your rig!

looks great Steve. and where you live, you could actually use fog lights. not that you really want to drive the coupe in those kind of conditions, but ... at least you are prepared

I took the fogs off and replaced them with "grande portee" model ("long range" in French) spots, you never know what you encounter returning from Starbucks! :)

Admittedly I just have them on for the look.

Looks terrific! Where did you find those wonderful vintage lights ( not that I like calling anything not as old as I am vintage) ?

Looks good! I may have to get some too.

Were your bumpers pre-drilled for the mounting holes or did you just spot the lights and hope for the best? Is there a factory switch for the lights?

There are a set of NOS rectangular fog lights
available
at Double 02 - $200 for the set.

eBay, I looked for 6 months or so for a pair of either Marchal or Cibie spot lights. The spots have clear glass to blast the light out and the fogs have fluted glass to disperse it. These are smaller in size which I like - 5.25" vs 6" typically. Some are bigger than that like Oscars which I think are too big for a road car. Mine take clear or amber bulbs (neither very efficient) and I am trying the amber first and I think I like them because the light lens is clear so the bulb gets magnified by the reflector so depending on the angle you look at they look all yellow or clear with just the bulb. Also kind of compliments the blinker lens. Spots seem harder to find but they come up.

I measured several times and drilled a pilot hole then the big one. I have a spare bumper to go back to stock if I decide to do so but I really like the look of the lights on our cars - adds a touch of aggressiveness to the elegance.

Very nice. Love the yellow bulbs, ready to drive into Normandy or something.
I am not into drilling new holes in my coupe, if there is a velcro way of attaching it I would consider it.

Non-drill mounting

+1 for the look of extra lights ;-)

I made simple brackets that mount from the headlight bucket mount holes and extend thru the grill. Weight of lights can be an issue (they can bounce and bob) and the bracket may need additional heft or a support leg to eliminate bobbing while in motion.

I certainly would explore optional mount options instead of drilling a pristine bumper.

Looks great. I love the vintage look, and had planned on going with that type of fog myself, but instead figured out a way to install lights from a GS1200 bike behind the grills. You can kind of see it in this pic. I'm running yellow regular lights and white fogs, so as in so many other things I'm backwards.

I think I'm keeping them...now to convince my wife they're the same ones that have been on the car for the past 2 years....

i think that the setup is very beautiful, but, what is the purpose of these additional lights ? i mean benefits, more light while driving ? compensate the old design when compared to more modern lights ?

your experience ? when do you turn them on ?

I suppose the purpose back in the day was to supplement the poor stock lighting, but certainly for rally/high speed driving. The yellow lenses were supposed to cut back on reflected glare from water vapor in the air because of the wavelenght of yellow light, but this theory has been disproven.

I have them wired to come on with the high beams, along with a switch to turn them off if I don't want them on at all. They light up everything ahead, especially signs, from very far away.

I rarely have them on since I do mostly city driving, like I said before, I just like the period look as an accessory. Like 14" Alpina wheels for example, which I'd love to have someday also.
