Hey group-
I bought this 1973 Bavaria a couple weeks ago. Seized engine, allegedly bad auto trans, tires from 1977, battery from 1979, rodent nests, a lot of old service/repair receipts (partially destroyed by the rodents), COMPLETE original tool kit! Hasn't run since 1981. I've owned two other Bavaria's in the past and regretted selling them, so when I saw this derelict car pop up, I jumped on it. Haven't found any dash cracks or seat tears or damage (but they have the signature "crunch" of the brittle horse hair underneath). Plans are to keep the paint as is; clean it, cut it, and wax it (for now). Replace the engine with another M30, replace the trans with a Getrag 265, +1 on suspension and brakes. It will be strictly a street car, but with better performance. I'm not a mechanic and I don't have a spacious garage, so a lot of what I'll be doing will be curbside. Not ideal, but doable.
I also have an e30 project going, so I'll be switching back and forth, depending on how I feel that week. The e30 runs and drives well, but I'm more excited about the dead Bavaria. I'll be asking questions, lots of them, and will do my best to research the info if it's already been asked/answered. Thanks, everyone!
