The conversion looks well done, but to me the form is not as appealing as the original coupe, or even an E30 or E36 cab (for me the summit of topless bmw elegance). Something ungainly, especially with the with white top up, and the 17" basketweaves, it seems short and squat.

The conversions were done by a reputable guy in Germany using an e30 top/mechanism. He’s converted several e9s. I agree that it was best left as originally designed. It looks better to me with the top up.
