E9 at Prestige BMW NJ

Driving down Route 17 today I saw an E9 in the show room at Prestige BMW (Ramsey NJ).

Didn't have time to stop and look.

Very nice. Is it $79k nice?

Looks to be a US spec car that's had the big bumpers replaced with the earlier types.

Listed on the e9 register from an old CS Register ad.

What I see looks nice. I wouldn't be in the market at $80K though.

Well it has the "reliable engine and smooth shifting transmission" package so I guess the asking price is justified :lol:

So my curiosity got the better of me and since it was only 20 minutes from me, I decided to check this car out. All I can wonder about is whether there really are people out there that walk into showrooms with little knowledge and a lot of money, because this car was a mess given the asking price. Repainted with overspray and drips, early bumpers fitted and paint damaged in the process, interior wood splitting, engine bay needs a good detailing, driver door brake broken and door doesn't latch securely, and on and on...

Quite a bit of cosmetic sorting required for $80K, without assessing the mechanicals. Fender seams, wheel wells, and firewall seemed OK in terms of obvious rust. Hard to access rockers without removing the trim.
