Did you use E36 M3 mount arms? They bolt right up and seem to place the engine in a different spot than the stock arms at least.

yes , once we got the subframe in the correct location, we were able to use stock e36 mounts .

after getting the trans mounted , next was to get a shifter built. We had to cut , shorten a late mode shift tower , then cut and shorten a shifter linage to fit that tower, and the last step was to make a bracket that held up the tail of shift tower

Next problem was the driveshaft center support bearing mounts were in the wrong place, cut out the old new and fabbed up some new ones from scratch and welded them into place ,

Started on the rear suspension conversion to e28 component's . I had done this on my Green Race car where I felt free to do what I wanted. On this car being a street car I was trying to keep the fab work to a minimum , and bolt on type stuff. It would appear that is NOT possible. I have tried numerous different ways to get this done, and finally just started cutting and fabbing up my own parts to get the e28 stuff to work . If you guys are interested Ill start a new detailed thread how to for e28 conversion . Holler.

the biggest difficultly is the shocks , the e9 stuff has the coil on the trailing arm while the e28 is a coil over, the upper shock mounts are to small for coil over , and the location of the lower mount puts the shock coil assembly at a difficult angle , . I was hoping that we could cut out the stock shock tower and weld in an e28/e12 tower , this still left an undesirable angle and was too short , so we eventually just made our own.

Today we got the rear shock towers finished up and completely welded into place . Fair amount of work, but turned out nice , now we got the car on the ground in the rear , still have a few issue's to sort out the rear compl

I do plan on reinforcing the diff mount, but in a more substantial manner than you are probably thinking , I will basically have a strut brace in the rear that ties into the diffmount .

another piece of the rear suspension conversion that needs to be taken car of is where the trailing arms mount to the subframe . on the later model subframe's the trailing arm mount closer to the top which creates interference with the body. To take care of this we cut out the stock body /floor panel, and made some pockets for the trailing arms to have a enough clearance to rotate as they should
