This is a bump to try and get an idea of how many strips would be made.
One piece is the longest strip, about 40.25". The guy wants to make only only length and that way we get the best prices. The other 2 pieces are about 11" and 14". So one car would need 4 pieces.
The total cost would be $160.00 for one full set if this price holds.
If more people are interested then I could enquire about making all 3 sizes but then I would need 50 cars.
The guy was looking to make a run of 100 pieces minimum.

Hi Stan
I would probably want a set, depending on how they are made, 'end cap treatment'
The original ones are an extruded channel, to form the closed ends the channel is flattened
You can't just cut to length or the channel would show, so it would have to be soft aluminum, then flattened, then polished
So unless each one has the end finished you might as well just make the one length
Doesn't a car have 6 pieces? 2 each on the front doors and 1 each on the rear panels

Yes each car has 6 pieces. I was thinking get 4 and cut two to desired length.
I wonder if snap on or push in end pieces could be made? Then just cut and add an end piece?

Yes I think add on end pieces would work well, but they would take some handwork or NC
You would want a 'peg' that would fit in the exposed slot, the peg could be integral or an add on
Then glue all together

Stan,
As with others I'd take a full set if the ends are finished correctly. I would also consider it without finished ends as there are a few inches of extra length so I can cut, bend, finish myself.
