Update: Figured out that someone had attached the spring 180 degrees out at center. Once I got the spring hooked (that was a bitch) on found there was way to much tension on the gear movement. Looked at the passenger side assembly and saw the attachment at the center was 180 degrees out...
Ok, this what I was thinking. Lot of effort to get the spring back I place with minimal or no gain in overall window up/down performance. The motor will maintain the window position.
Actually plan to work on this project tomorrow. I have a couple of ideas for the spring. If they work out great...
After verifying power to all the switches decided that I needed to remove door panels and check each window. As most of you anticipated all 3 windows were stuck. Once I helped the motors they are all working again. I likely put the windows up without watching each of them to ensure they were...
I will try your suggestions. Not sure why 3 would stop working all of a sudden. I could see this being the the problem if it was one window. It feels like the problem is something that effects the entire system. Thanks.
Yep, no breakers.
VIN 2250403 was manufactured on December 15th, 1972 and delivered on January 09th, 1973
Thanks for the info.
The only thing left would be the load shedding relay. This is the only common piece that would cause 3 of the 4 windows to not function, maybe?
Power to fuse 8 and 9...
I was driving the other day stopped that car, rolled up the drivers side window. Came back out of the store and now on the rear drivers side window is the only one that is functional.
Load shedding relay?
Any others with this type of experience?
Replaceing the shifter boot turned into some refurb work on the shifter console. Constant rabbit hole
What is the best why to get these back to looking good? Looked around for threads as I am sure there are many about this work. No luck.
Can someone send me in the right direction.
I saw that. In this picture the clip looks like the one you have. The one I have looks like the ones ordered from la jolla. Just making sure a screw belongs in the location inside the clip itself. Seems logical. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks. I will check out the area prior to the seal re-install.
The passenger side is nicely sealed. The driver side looks like it came out at some point. Can probably find a reasonable replacement for the BMW part.
Would like to see if I can locate the correct seal piece first.
