The dear old bucket is slowly (very slowly) progressing!
To be honest I have been through some major life changes, which I will not bore you with so the old bucket has taken abit of a back burner. Too many other projects and trying to make a living. However...
The owner may have right to salvage, but the insurers and VOSA may deem it is Cat E which means it is so badly damaged that it would be unsafe to repair and thus may only be broken for parts.
I'm still alive an kicking.
Progress on the dear old rust bucket has been somewhat lacking. Personal circumstances I'm afraid.
However hoping to move soon to somewhere with a big shed so I can revive the old Wednesday evening thread.

Basically the shell is "done", next to get the nose cone on and the rebuilding, once I have a new shed to do it in.......

I agree with the blasting rather than dipping, mainly (in my case) because I have control over the process.
If a car is dipped and the shell isn't braced properly as the rust is removed the car can fold up because the rusty metal may of been supplying just enough support.

I use a product called Bondaprimer which is a zinc rich primer. I have had very good results with it on other steel items which are outside, and I live near the sea!
You can weld through it and it can be brush or spray painted.

If you force the lock, ie you keep trying to turn the wheel even though you are on full lock this will happen.
