    42V Alternator Wanted

Good thinking. Mods to a 12V alternator will get the volts for sure, but here's my concern: Despite the many advantages of a higher voltage system, there's heat produced and, as we have seen, the stronger alternators - even at 12V - are liquid cooled. Don't got no liquid cooling. Plus the way...

    42V Alternator Wanted

Welp, there are a couple tech issues with that direction, but the main one is the $3500 price tag. I'm hoping for a real simple, air cooled, no semi-hybrid, 42V old-school alternator off...something that I can just swap in for the 24V one I'm running now.

    42V Alternator Wanted

We're re-powering a 24V gas/electric hybrid remote control tracked slope mower with 36V electric drive motors and now need a constant source of 36V power, run off a 22hp gas motor at a steady 3600 rpm. We know we can diddle the 24 alternator but I wanted to ask. Railroad stuff? Airplane tug...

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

I asked a smart guy a long time ago why a rear wheel bearing for a Ferrari 250 GTE was $120 and the rear wheel bearing for a Maserati Ghibli was $9. He told me it was because Ferrari called the bearing place and *told* them what size to make everything ID and OD and if it needed a row of balls...

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

Agreed, emulsion tubes and idles jets are the immediate target. I *think* I'm convinced that if I get correct-ish emulsion tubes, then I can sort the idle jets and get rid of the low end richness. Why an "emissions" emulsion tube would produce fatness at low revs/load is still escaping me...

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

Yup.That looks like it. I'm suspicious of my 4.5 Aux vent vs. their 6. I better look at that again.

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

Wonderful research! Aux is 4.5 Have a drawer full of jet drills going back to the 70s. Have a drawer of mains and air correctors from other cars with Webers. Have a new set of idles 45F11 haven't tried. Have 35 pump jet Problemo is no inspection port access on these carbs. If you have a set...

Much appreciated. Correction to above listed current jetting; Idles are now 40 F11 on trial.

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

Carbs are Model 111 off a 72 GTC4. I could only get 3 of them to fit the E9. Six was too many. Float level is slightly low, pressure at 2#s. Regular gas/stock motor. No air filters on at the moment. Hard/full throttle is 12.8 to 13.5 Idle I can set anywhere from 9-13 with screws but above 10 it...

Weber DCOE 40 has F41 emulsion tubes???

Can anyone find a doc that ranks the DCOE emulsion tubes from lean to rich? These carbs are off a 4 liter Ferrari from the '70s and I *cannot* get the tip-in and low end to lean out, regardless of AFR, idle settings and stupid lean idle jets. I'm starting to suspect I have wild card emulsion...

Before you punt, it might be worth consulting one of the small, friendly DMV registration services. For a small fee they will send someone to your home to verify the VIN and will be able to answer questions about missing titles and lack of CARB stickers. Don is on the right track.

    H&R Springs ???

Hi Chris. Dunno. Here's what he's got on the site. I thought the proper H&R Sport springs had a TUV. He's not being clear on whether these are "Sport" as we know it or a private run "made by."

Thanks Gransin. I emailed Joachim and let's see exactly what he's got.

    H&R Springs ???

73 E9 is running newer Bilstein Sports with original springs cut a coil and a coil and a quarter, stock bars, 14" wheels and 70 series tires with 27#s of air - ride height is fine - and the car is banging so badly over rough road surfaces that it sounds like it's coming apart. I doubt I'll...

    Cheap "New" eBay Driveshafts???

LOL. Thanks all. The BMW motorcycle guys have a saying; "The cheapest part on a new $31K BMW bike is the owner." That's not what this is about. I can and have built, spliced, and rebuilt BMW driveshafts with greasable U-joints in my shop. I have been replacing BMW driveline parts for 50 years...
