Hi there - any progress on remanufacturing the interior chrome trim - I am very interested in getting a complete set
Thanks
Tony
Hi - probably a problem that a lot of us have but have learnt to ignore it over the years - I am still trying.
My speedo likes to bounce around at low speed - needle dances between 0 and 30mph but once you load up the engine and above 30mph it is very stable
Replaced a broken cable recently...
For me personally it took several years on and off - I gave up for a year or so when on a Saturday morning my next door neighbour (busy restoring a '70's convertible Fiat - he still is !!!) to me not to give up so I went home got the vintage car section of the paper and there was E9 advertised...
Hi there - I have 17" Alpina 8's with offset 11 on the front rims with Dunlop 205 ZR17 50. Guards have been rolled and also had 8mm spacers made up. Car handles very well and have not had one instance of rubbing with this set up. Hope it works out for you
Is there interest in a page that provides a look up of members by location down to city level - no private information - this would assist people wanting to connect with others locally. Contact could be made via the page or via email. One side benefit would be building a profile of...
Hey there - I'm down in Melbourne - probably about 15-18 coupes that I am aware of down here - not sure how many are members on the site.
There is another Melbourne run being lined up for Sunday 14th Sept I understand - probably 08:00am departure out through Marysville for lunch somewhere -...
Hi Matthew - had me scratching my head as well - if you tried BMW Aust and they were too expensive (as i did) I ended up going to Jaymic UK - from memory they were altogether cheaper (incl shipping and exchange rates) and also quick shipping. www.jaymic.com - if not listed on the website send an...
Jon - The offsets on the front are 19 and on the back are 14 I have found out.
Sorry but I have no idea what models the 17'' would have originally been found on.
Barry - I got the rims in Australia from Bavarian Motorsport. They can be contacted on email [email protected]. I...
In case you wondered what 17'' Alpina's look like on an E9 here are a couple of pics and some info on the set up.
Fronts are 8'' rims with Dunlop 205 ZR17 50 and rears are 8.5'' Dunlop 235 ZR17 45.
Haven't got offsets to hand but can source if someone wants to know.
The shocks are...
When you fall asleep at night trying to figure out ways to repair the broken fins on the bonnet grills because although you know some parts can be expensive you just can't come to pay the outrageous sums required to get these bits new
Try Autosol - Metal Polish - German product and very good for restoring brightwork without scratching and also for removing light, medium oxidation - esp on aluminium.
I am in the process of getting my 265 5 speed reconditioned - very few (i.e none) transmission places where willing to assist - special tools required was the reason they provided. Eventually tried another approach and sourced a shop who specialise in preparing/repairing race car components -...
Hi Matthew - Bill at Ajay Panels & Mechanicals is repairing my car - the business has a wealth of information, spare parts and panels specifically for E9's but attend to others cars as well of course. In the interests of openness Bill has become a good friend since I have owned and slowly...
Hi Sandhu - and my sincere commiserations - I have just had exactly the same experience with my e9 4 weeks ago - shunted up the Harris !! My damage amounted to $18K AUS. Touch and go whether it was to be called a write off or could be repaired with new panels. Insurance co agreed to repair - too...
Hi John-Paul - Bill (Ajay) was looking for candidates in order to get sufficient numbers to produce Scheel copies - one of the locals was going to produce the 'blanks' in Melbourne and you could get them upholstered as you required - thats as much as I know - maybe give him a call and get more...
Hi - I have elected to rebuild my 5 spd - they are extremely rare down here and any second hand box is likely to be only marginally better than what I have. I have sourced all required bearings and synchro's but understand there is a special puller required to disassemble the box. I cannot...
