Wow is all I can say.
I just got off the phone with the new owner, great guy. Although new to BMW he is planning on taking the car to the top level of restoration, and it’s going to be a father/son project. I’m so glad it’s going to a good home.
Naturally, I told him to lean heavily on the...
Thanks for the kind words guys. This group has been so incredibly helpful over the years, and it’s very humbling to be part of such a great community.
Tom
And thanks to Markos for the troll shootdown on BAT!
As everyone here can probably relate,
I’m absolutely heartbroken that my “forever” E9 has to go this way.
Tom
Haha LOL Rob. I don’t blame you, I wasn’t sure about BAT either until I saw the result of the car I’d pictured above. WOW... the E9 world & it’s pricing has certainly changed in the past 10-15 years!
Thanks for the well wishes!
It’s my car. Out of network medical bills are forcing my hand in selling it ASAP and unfinished.
To clarify, this is a RUNNING car. Driving? Not quite yet.
Phase 1 was the mechanical aspects.
Phase 2 was to be the body, windows out fenders off strip & paint. The body hasn’t been touched...
I’ve been storing these for nearly twenty years, and they should go to a good home.
Not perfect, but very nice. Kept cool and dry. They were properly cleaned and fed with Hidefood before being locked away and are still quite supple. Horsehair intact and nice. Chrome had been polished prior...
They were several hundred cents each...
Purchased the three I could find, under $10 for all but it required a Barbie acquisition as well.
Sadly the fine print clearly states “for the adult collector” so I may have to return them to clear my conscience...
As I prepped for paint....
Left side drilled at the ends for castellated nut & cotter pin.
Right side isn’t.
Teilekatalog shows only holed ones for all years.
I’ve read the long/short control arm thread, are there similar e3 or other rods that may have inadvertently been used? Maybe by an...
Don that truly looks like the one. Visually identical, same square keyhole, 125ish MM...
Found p/n W 32.41-1-250-623 on the back.
Now for the difficult bit.
What are you asking, sir?
Thanks Don! I’m on a trip right now, be home Friday evening... I’d have my wife measure, but she’d undoubtedly get the micrometer stuck in her eye measuring the shaft dia.
I can tell immediately from your pic that the middle one appears identical to mine.
Same circular weld, no three bolts...
Thanks for all of the input guys...
Wizzurp, honestly I think you’d dona lot better selling the whole lot to someone that needs it all. If you’re willing to try to remove the pulley, I’d be a buyer in the $100 & under range...
#1 to what Steve said... I’m surprised at the softness of the metal used here, and I’m guessing it’s the reason mine had its slightly out of round wobble. I’d be heartbroken if it was the one I planned to reuse, perfect 20/20 hindsight would have me taking it to a ‘pro’ for removal...
I now...
Just The pulley would be absolutely fantastic!
Mine was slightly out of round, so I wasn’t as careful as I could have been removing it. Pretty much destroyed mine despite using the correct tool, heat & two weeks worth of penetrating fluid...
Please let me know! Thanks in advance, Tom
BMW says NLA...
W&N only has ‘73 & up...
Maximillian can only order one from Germany for $125 (!)
Local farm store has very beefy units starting at $7....
Would love to keep it OEM, but not a necessity. Just ask my Alpinas, Bilsteins, and Nardi...
Any alternative suggestions are most...
