    Connecting Exhaust System

I had my entire exhaust system replaced recently with a stock system that came from Europe. As I recall that rear muffler assembly had to be welded but I wasn't there and haven't looked under the car.

    Door Sill Strips

Good memory Chris. Yes, I purchased a set and did install them in our '72 Bavaria. They dress the car up nicely.

Period Factory Accessories : Alloy Wheels

My 1972 Bavaria arrived to the states with steel wheels which I still have. When I purchased the car the factory period alloys like yours were already on so I kept them. Shortly thereafter I found another set with caps for backups. Personally I like these for this period sedan over larger...

    Rear Headrest Internal Post Support

Our first 1972 Bavaria did not have rear headrest. That car was purchased in 1974. The current 1972 Bavaria does have the rear headrest. I was missing those covers but thanks to Mike Burger some time ago he was kind enough to supply me with them.

    FS. Bavaria Belt Trim

This may be useless info but I'll add it anyway. It appears to me that Mercedes sedans of the same era as our E3 sedans used the same trim but it was cut to different lengths. So if I'm correct I wonder how difficult it would be to cut an MB strip to the correct length and install the BMW...

    E3 or E Type ?

The E Type was and is the most beautiful sports car ever built. Last Saturday I visited with my friend Paul Cain and we had that very discussion as he is close to having his E Type Coupe in "Cain Blue", what else, completed. With that said I've got to comment that every time I get in the E3...

    New '72 Bavaria owner

Welcome and congrats on the car. Over the past 43 years we've owned several BMWs starting with a '72 Bavaria, a couple of 7 series, a couple of E39s with one being an M5 and other assorted examples. Our current '72 Bavaria gives me more enjoyment than all of the others. I think this is due to...

    Windshield wiper arms in chrome

Mine were also the aluminum style and quite dull from years of exposure. I spent about 15 minutes with Mother's Mag Polish and they came back to life as new in appearance. Finding blades in the argent (silver) is not easy but when I was in my local NAPA store I found nothing but with the help...

    E3 newbee right here!

I purchased a set of the Michelin Defenders for our '72 Bavaria with correct period alloys. They were the most expensive of the offerings but still very reasonable. I've put about 5K on them and they are excellent. These are great cars and I keep waiting for more to discover and appreciate them.

How to restore /revive old rubber parts

I can already see the eyes rolling when people read this and I certainly don't endorse the product nor have I used it in years. In about 1988 I was doing a body off restoration on a 1956 Chrysler 300B and after searching for windwing rubbers I came up empty. My originals were dirty and rock...

    1953 Lincoln Cooling system quandary

Hi Scott and congrats on the purchase. I've been into early Chrysler products most of my life and currently have 5 including your counterpart, a 1953 Chrsler Imperial Newport with a Powerflite trans. My first recommendation is to flush the entire cooling system and have the radiator checked...

    Removing stickers from license plates

I have two methods for removing stickers. A heat gun will soften the sticker and make it easy to peel off. The second way is to remove the plate for the vehicle (I would do that in either case) and hold a lit match under the sticker on the BACK side of the plate moving it over the sticker...

For Sale, NOS tail lights, probably E3

Let me try that again. I'm thinking these fit E3 up through 1971.

    $$$ Bavaria

Frankly I'm pleased to see a potential value increase. Friends keep telling me that Bavarias will appreciate in the future. When we purchased ours a couple of years ago I had no idea (but I should have) on the expense it would take to make the car up to my standards. We are now mostly there...

    Driveshaft rebuilders?

I've used them for years on some of my Chryslers and the latest was our Bavaria. Their work is excellent and pricing fair for what they do.

    need to pick new tires

About a year ago I needed tires for our '72 Bavaria. I found a good selection of 195-14 through America's Tire which is part of Discount Tire. Michelin Defenders were the most expensive but had the best ratings and the total cost was just over $500 as I recall for everything. So a year...

    Chris and Mike's Polaris E3

That is the way I've done it in the past except I use Marvel Mystery Oil. Five years ago I purchased a "barn find" 1953 Chrysler Imperial Newport that had been in slumber for some 25 years. It turned over but we still did the soak trick for a couple of weeks. Once new plugs were installed and...
