    Recommendations for Parts?

Good point Mike! I too have been charged import duties between $25 and $45 a few times on my larger Walloth orders. They came as invoices from UPS after the shipments arrived and seemed a bit random, however UPS was relentless until they were paid. I began to pay them right away to minimize the...

Big warning on Cohline fuel hose. We are replacing all Cohline 2122 we have installed.

Thanks for alerting us @sfdon! Also thanks @Luis A. for the Cohline 2240 option, however the 70mm bend radius minimum won't work for my electric fuel pump location. Bimmerforums.com has a helpful thread going into the materials and their markings on the hose. The info below was maybe 2/3 of the...

Best way to fit new spark plug wires into the loom?

Thanks @deQuincey and @Stevehose! Steve, the plug wires are, https://unitedmotorproducts.com/product/ump-united-wire-set-9633/ Searching around, these met my goal of looking like the originals with the 90° elbows at the distributor end, black silicone wires, and the brown "Bakelite" plug...

Best way to fit new spark plug wires into the loom?

Hello! Wondering if anyone has advice on changing spark plug wires with a one-piece molded black plastic loom, see photo. I purchased new wires with the 90° boots, as shown in the original parts manual. However I am concerned about bending the connectors twice while removing and replacing the...

    1970 2800CS restoration - in preliminary stage

Hello! Fun to see your purchase and read about your progress. Welcome to the E9 restoration adventure! I will confess that I've been on it for about 10 years now. I also bought the stainless steel exhaust system from W&N. The first system came with a significant amount of damage. They promptly...

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

Good old HB Chris! ;-) His input has helped me out several times. I wouldn't want anyone else to endure the experience we went through, going from bewilderment and rejection to elation, but I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who struggled with this! Regarding the Bilstein B6 Sport vs HD...

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

Problem resolved! The front Bilstein shocks did fit after all! Upon trying again a bit more carefully and thoroughly, the Bilstein gland nut on the new shocks is designed to be thinner and fit down the space between the shock outer diameter and the internal threads. Thanks everyone for your...

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

@Breiti - Yes the new and old gland nuts fit without the shock installed. I think I tried what you are saying about slipping the nut over the shock and then sticking them in the tube but the shock takes the space where the nut needs to go. See the 4th photo above

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

@Fritzie - thanks for the information from Germany, very interesting about the 48 and 50 mm strut tubes being used on 3.0CS cars. Yes, mine is a 50 mm ID, however I'm unsure what depth the 50 mm tubes should be. Mine is 429 mm max. Hopefully someone has a spare strut around that they could...

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

It was a close fit but the measurements seemed to confirm the shock was inserted fully. The strut tube was 429mm deep at the center of the hole and less at the walls due to a concave bottom and/or weldments - hard to see. The shock body was 425mm long and it fit fully in but left no room to...

I did try, but I may try again just to be sure - thanks

    1969 2800CS strut dilemma - Bilstein's won't fit!

I went to install new front Bilstein shocks in the front struts and they didn't fit. They are Bilstein PN 34-000243 which is the only B6 shock that the Bilstein catalog shows to fit a 1969 2800CS (Euro delivery 01/69). So now I am wondering if my struts are stock or from another model or if the...

    Ignition lock cover desperately seeking!

In follow up, here's a photo of the 3232 1108 979 part for 1974 and on as installed in a 1969 steering column, and one without it. It pressed in nicely and offers a bit of resistance against coming out. There is a small gap between the hole in the cover and the rotating hub of the ignition...

    Ignition lock cover desperately seeking!

Unsurprisingly, the reply from the Martin site was: "Unfortunately, this spare part has been dropped and will therefore no longer be available. I regret the circumstances."

    Ignition lock cover desperately seeking!

Don and those interested, I saw that listing on eBay with the seller from Indonesia asking "big money". Fortunately that is not the one I purchased. I found a new NOS item in the bag out of Texas for a much more reasonable price. I also came across a site out of Germany, Online-teile.com, by...

Thanks Don! I did a little more searching online last night and found one on eBay and ordered it. I'll reach out if it doesn't show up

    Ignition lock cover desperately seeking!

It appears that this thread died years ago but just checking in to see if anyone is aware of any out there. I need the 3232 1105 071 version. Walloth and other sources are coming up NLA. Willing to modify any alternates that may work. Thanks!
