1972 Golf Yellow CSL for sale…possibly!

That is one sweet motor car Dan. Wow. If my 'not show car' matched your 'not show car' I'd be an even happier man than I already am! Good luck with the sale. Your car is in such a vibrant colour and looks bang on. I have no opinion on valuation, but it certainly deserves to achieve top...

    CSL Restoration

Bloody Hell Marc! Do you have any idea when all of the "work" was done to your car? It would be interesting to know when they put that amount of effort into it. It looks as if it was a while ago, when even CSL values would hardly have justified it. However, thank goodness they did, otherwise...

Source for cross drilled brake discs?

Hi Chaps, I know these can be bought from Walloth & Nesch in Germany, who ship worldwide if you need them. I always thought the brakes on my CSL were fabulous - and they were the (generally considered) inferior twin tandem servo set up for the RHD models. I did track days for over a decade and...

    Hello from the UK

Welcome Simon! I have a Fjord blue CSL (black interior, as per standard). I agree that silver and red is a lovely combo. Enjoy your CS and come along to the BMW Festival at Gaydon if you can. It would be great to catch up.

    Project Jabberjaw Part 2

I'm always wary of reviving older posts, but just have to say was a BEAUT this car is! Well done on creating a fabulous motor.

    Midlands, England, U.K.

Hi Sandhu, I'm in North Bucks and tend to do my stuff myself. I've used DMWorx in Stoke Mandeville before and they were very good. They did work on my E30 M3, but nobody has really touched the CSL.

    European Trip Part Deux

Never mind all the other B/S photos, having visited the 'Ring, we also paid homage to the greatest of his age at Hockenheim and visited Spa Francorchamps, the most beautiful circuit I have ever visited. We did do other stuff on the trip, but these seem to be the highlights :-) Oh, we also...

    Power steering pump rebuild

Nice one Steve! I recently replaced the nose shaft seal on mine, as it had begun to leak in a very tedious way. I agree with you re the roller bearing. I thought it was a joke at first, but managed to get my rollers to stay in place with a little grease while the shaft is reinserted...

    CSL at the 'Ring

On our trip to the BMW Centenary in Munich, we stopped in at the 'ring and did just the one lap.......

    Steering Box

I have been meaning for some time to nip up the play in my CSL's steering box. The car is in very good shape with mostly new suspension bits and tyres, but had been feeling a bit sloppy for a while, particularly in mid-corner for long sweepers, where it felt as if the rear geometry was changing...

    Brake Fluid system circuit capacity

It really doesn't hold that much - less than a litre I would suspect. However, bleeding is, as Rohan says, another matter entirely! At least you don't have the miserable twin-servo layout we have with RHD cars. I would suggest a couple of litres would do it. For mine, twin servos and all...

    '72 Restomod

You're doing some fantastic work there. You should be proud - getting familiar for when you find your own E9 project :-)

    Martini Racing Group 2 Resurrection

Wow! That is not only a very cool and satisfying way to return a landmark car to the way that it should be, involving period personnel and gurus into the bargain, but a fabulous piece of work too. Well done and good luck with what remains.

    D-Jet Running Issues

Update alert........ Further early-morning investigations revealed a couple of injectors that had wiring that had definitely seen better days. I would say by the look at a couple of the terminals that they were not making reliably all the time. This is not exactly a smoking gun, but not good...
