What Airlines do you Avoid and Why?

The airport you‘re flying out of plays a roll IMO. I’ll vote for Alaska as one I like. Just flew them today Portland to Newark. (On a Boeing 737Max) Since moving to Portland full time in 2022 we fly back to NJ 3-4 times a year. It used to be United but I’ve switched to Alaska. I can’t recall a...

1971 Euro CSi on BaT--yes another one!

Despite all the hand ringing, current biding stands at $115k with 2 days remaining. (It is a very nice euro CSI) That’s likely pretty close to reserve. I suspect the comment flagging may be BaT’s attempt help the car sell and protect the buyers fee they hope to collect.

    Failed Master Clutch Cylinder

Here’s the FTE rebuild kit I used. It’s available from fcpEuro for $11.39 :) https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-clutch-master-cylinder-repair-kit-21521102625 They show an ATE kit for $46.00 but it’s back ordered. I tried the clutch master (part # 21521100784) through BMW but it comes up as...

    Failed Master Clutch Cylinder

Bummer. They’re easy to rebuild. I rebuilt mine 12 years ago and it’s still going strong. https://www.wallothnesch.com/en/repair-kit-master-cylinder-ate-fits-for-all-models-and-years-of-manufacturing-you-need-1-for-1-car-21-04-15-1.html New units are not cheap, but still available...

    Euro 1974 BMW 3.0CSi 4-Speed

Which he doesn’t do in CA. Eight of his last twelve BaT sales are euro spec BMWs titled in Montana under his “LLC”. We all know why. The rule of thumb for CA that someone mentioned is: If you’re trying to title a 1968-75 Euro spec car model that was never offered for sale new in CA during that...

    72 Bavaria on BaT

Yeah it’s a Bav. 3.0s would have more interior wood trim, chrome sill covers, etc. If it was done properly (holes welded not bonded) I don’t mind the belt line trim delete. It has a 123ignition electronic distributor. The listing really needs cold start, running/driving videos. Seller was asking...

    e3 estate barn find video

As mentioned in the YouTube video, vinyl covered roofs were popular in the 70’s. This custom built e3 estate’s vinyl was added more to cover visible build defects than for pure esthetics. Webasto style folding roof is a nice option.

    BAT: Euro 1971 BMW 3.0CSi 5-Speed

I guess there’s a new phrase added to the vintage euro gray market car ownership lexicon. If you can’t legally register your car under CA laws, no problem, just ”Montana it”. Brilliant.

    The Lovely Winters in Portland

Here’s the latest, our contractor coming tomorrow to write the estimate for the costs to repair the damage. We‘ll then submit it to our insurance adjuster. Contractor and adjuster have worked with each other before so it should go smoothly. Once approved work gets scheduled. Attached a photo of...

    The Lovely Winters in Portland

Yeah but the wine is better here. ;) Yes, what remains of the tree does not instill much confidence. An arborist looked at it yesterday and said it’s not an imminent danger. Fingers crossed it survives tonight’s ice storm. I’ll be addressing it‘s future with my neighbor, who have been MIA since...

    The Lovely Winters in Portland

That branch did puncture the roof and came to rest on top of the tall wine fridge. I lowered it to floor. It’s about 5” thick. Below is a photo of it from the roof side it. My garage is two and half cars deep. The coupe was farther forward. I pushed the cars back incase anything else fell. The...

    The Lovely Winters in Portland

Good questions. We have always built homes out of wood here in the US different than in Europe. I’m not a builder, but I do watch “This Old House”, So I’ll try to answer. While most foundations are concrete or cinder block, I believe costs would be much higher to build the whole house and you’re...

    The Lovely Winters in Portland

As some out of our area may have heard, we had quite a winter storm in northern Oregon yesterday. Not much snow but high winds and temps in the teens. We lost power at 10:00am. Around 1:00 yesterday I heard a catastrophic crash as a huge tree on my neighbors property split and fell on my garage...
