Hi guys

It’s been a good few years since I posted on here. I finally got my engine and trans (3.5 m30b34 and 265) installed into the car last year. Didn’t get much time to use it, but very pleased with how it turned out and I think it’s now time to sort out some of gremlins...

One of which is the rev counter which jumps around all over the place! Can anyone give me some pointers on how to trouble shoot this?

The rev counter was fine before the engine swap, but I can’t rule out that it’s now faulty.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

Check for loose connection at the coil and all grounds at the gauge and instrument cluster

+1 with Steve's advice. The tach is very simple with signal supplied by one wire off the coil. Bouncing tach is most always the result of a poor electrical connection, either signal or ground.
