Hi!
I am just finished the engine overhauling for my CSL project. When I bought the car it had a 3.5l engine block with all the parts (inclusive D-jetronic) to the original 3003cc engine. I wanted to go back to the original block and started the hunt for a 3.0 l CSi engine. The plan was to bore it to 3003cc. A few months back I managed to get the hold of an engine that looked promising. The problem was that it had no markings. It had only a X stamped above the starter. I brought it home and dismantled it. To my surprise it had pistons with first oversize 89,22mm, and I felt like winning in Lotto!

I also wondering what car this engine block comes from? It has a water jacket on the drivers side, but apart from that it looks like an original e-9 engine.
Stroke is 80mm
On the passenger side the markings are:13A77 and 1253525

Hej Henrik!
Very nice looking engine!
Keep in mind that this original beautiful red 5-wing fan is not able to keep the engine at correct temperature level when +25 degree together with an aged cooling system. But, I Guess you already invested in a new cooler as well, otherwise the boring black 9-wing fan will do the job :)

PS
I think you need to do some work on the oxided bracket in the picture for the accelerator link.
Keep in mind this bracket will be very visible when looking into the engine bay from drivers side.

Cheers!
Stefan

Thanks for the compliments!

Good to hear that the engine is a factory replacement.
I am aware of the problem with overheating. I struggle with this on my CS with 3.3l L-jet. Even a 9-wing fan haven´t solved the problem so I´m going to convert to two small electrical fans with electronic control instead.I will on the other hand keep the CSL as original as possible so I´ll have to invest in a good cooler as you point out Sven. Do you know someone in our part of the world that can deliver?

((I Think You Need To Do Some Work On The Oxided Bracket )) I prefer to call it patina :)
