Alpina wheels

When the CSl was sold in Europe it came with these wheels but 195/70R14 Michelin XWX (or even XDX) tyres!
The 14x7 Alpinas were an option on the CSi but rarely taken up.

look like the chinese-cast "Hoffman" wheels out of the northwest.

195-70 tire selection:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=195/&ratio=70&diameter=14&x=56&y=7

205-70 selection:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSearchResults.jsp?width=205/&ratio=70&diameter=14&x=77&y=7

whats with this goofy idea there are no tire choices?

195-65:

205-60

G-guy, where do you get 225-60? that size tire would look like they are always low on air. too wide for a 7x14" rim (~9" tread??)

225/60 is the size that Carl Nelson told me to run on my 14" Alpina's. I have a set of 4 14" Alpina 5 lug wheels with like new Falken Ziex 225/60-14 H rated tires on newly restored rims. I had my 14" Alpina's restored last year by the same wheel shop that Coupe King uses in LA. After I had the Falken's mounted on the Alpina's, I put them up for sale on this forum for $1K and no bites. Since nobody was interested, I put them back on my 70 E3 2800, damn they look good on that car. I have no problems at all with 225/60 rubbing. Here's a pic of one of them, the other three look just like this one, you get the picture.

The Alpina replica's that Hoffman sells are only available in 15" (4 lug) and 16" (5 lug). http://www.thehoffmangroup.com/vintage/
I have a set of Hoffman 15" Alpina replica's on my 74 tii.
http://www.2002haus.com/gmantii.htm The offset is not the greatest for a 2002, the 15 replica's are a much better fit on a E21.
The Craigslist seller in Vancouver appears to be selling original 14" 5 lug Alpina's but the buyer would have to verify that. W&N has new 14" Alpina 5 lug wheels for 250 Euro's each. That price doesn't include shipping from Germany.

Alpina 7x14

Remember that there are two versions of 7x14 Alpina rims.

The first one is the original Alpina rim being original to 3.0 CSL. Those rims have an Alpina logo in the center of the rim.

The other one is a more or less exact copy provided by BMW in the 70-ties WITHOUT the alpina logo in the center.

It is the same ET on both rims.

You can still get Michelin XWX from Coker Tire, but they are REALLY pricey. The original size XWX that is period correct is 195-70-14 and they no longer make that, so the next size up is 205-70-14 which they do have, but I can only assume that they are purely catering to the Ferrari crowd with that size.

Hoffmann is the importer, yes.
And yes, the webpage referenced lists 4-lug 15's and 5-lug 16's.

They also run an ad in HMN advertising Alpina wheels in 14, 15, 16, and 17" (f.w.i.w.)

I should also say they are sourcing what appear to be dynamite products, the post-casting finish on the wheels is very very good, and the cast finish of the diff cover I got for my Touring is no worse than on Aplina parts I've seen. (f.w.THATs.w.)

I have a set of Hoffman's 16" wheels on my coupe.

I can't complain. I did NOT pay the list price that he shows for them.

Workmanship & quality seem very nice.

I've enclosed a pic of these wheels on the car.

More pics available if anyone desires....
