Anyone have any experience/recommendations for an amplified windshield mount antenna??

It has been a while but I once created a windshield loop antenna for a 77 Oldsmobile. Unamplified. It was good for FM, not that great for AM. Antenna preamps mostly help when the coax cable to the receiver is really long, it would not have helped me. Vertical antennas are better than loop antennas because they are omnidirectional, and broadcast radio is transmitted with vertical polarization I believe.
