I noticed it's been a while since Doug from Canmore, Alberta has posted anything. Hope things are good with him . I know Doug loves helping out at the Lake Louise World cup races each year .

Sadly, I did some more research and found that Doug was killed after sustaining injuries in an avalanche while back country skiing near Golden, BC Feb 24, 2016. I met Doug in Toronto several years ago when he was visiting family. We had a nice time talking about Coupe's and we both share a love of skiing and ski racing. Doug was very involved with his daughter's ski racing and volunteered at the World Cup events at Lake Louise each year. He was quick to share advice on Coupe's, Alberta's economy, skiing etc, and seemed to have a real Zest for life. He was very fit as I recall and enjoyed tracking his Silver E9. I know he truly had a passion for mountain adventure.
RIP Doug Churchill.

oh, sorry to read this. Doug once expressed interest in driving to BC to exercise his Coupe and meet a new member of the Forum (me). He really enjoyed the adventure, as that is no short cruise from east of the Alberta Rockies to the left coast. He surely lived with a passion. RIP Doug, Mike

Oh That's really sad . Several years ago I posted in the wanted ads that I was looking to buy a rear seat belt to securely strap in my youngest son.
I received several replies at very different price points. And then I got Doug's reply......It said..... email me your address and I'll mail you one , no charge !
I never met Doug before . Its these little acts of kindness that one remembers . I'm sure Doug was a great man.

Yeah that sounds like something Doug would do. Here is a bit of info on his love of Coupes. I know I remember seeing a photo of him at the track once on the forum.

Sad to hear that. He seemed to enjoy experimenting with newer technologies to improve his coupe. He helped me (motivated me) early on with the design of the custom stainless exhaust he was installing on his coupe. Between the two of us we figured out a pretty good setup. RIP.

Thanks for noticing this. Since forums are just a large group of people with a similar interest these things happen from time to time. This forum is different than others because we tend to be a closer group. Have you considered reaching out to his family somehow and asking if there's anything our group on the forum can help with? If his coupe will stay in the family they may need some contacts for help in the future, or if they decide to part with it we can make sure it gets sold in the right market. I know I've had the talk with my wife and son about what to do with my cars if I pass, but maybe we shouldn't assume this in Doug's case. Just a thought.

Dan

I can do that Dan. Hopefully one of his daughters will blast through the Mountains next Spring in his Silver E9.
