Realised I'm missing a pair of these for the car.
Are they alloy for the CSL or thin gauge steel?
If anybody has a pair please let me know.

Hi @Wes,

Perhaps I led you astray. I was under the impression that the following CSL parts were aluminum:
  • Hood
  • Trunk
  • Rocker Covers
  • Door Skins
  • Door Hinges
  • Headlight Covers

Mine are definitely steel. That is unless Karmann
rust is powerful enough produce iron oxide on aluminum.
ah, maybe I was thinking about the fuel filler door.. Thinking about it - the covers on my donor 3.0CSA were utterly disintegrated so that should have been my first clue...

Filler door is definitely some type of cast non ferrous lightweight metal

Mine are also alloy but they may have been replaced in a former life, probably at the same time as the sill (rocker) covers were replaced with alloy ones.
