I have tried to clearly show the mediocre condition of these tail lights, but if you want more photos, let me know. Prices are all over the place, and so is the condition of the few that I have found for sale elsewhere. I understand rechroming is rather expensive, maybe even cost-prohibitive in California, but I don’t know about others or even my own state of Vermont. I could look into having them rechromed here if it makes sense, but that is a bridge I will cross with the buyer if need be. Mind you these have been in the bottom of a box for many years, so I don’t know exactly what they came off, but my guess is they came off the E9 that Ralph Humburg then turned into the tribute CSL some of you may have seen for sale on BaT and at rpmvt.com. His widow told me he bought a coupe in Germany and had it shipped over here, then stripped it down to use as the bones for that project. $400 plus shipping for the pair

i would check to see if MoBrighta would be interested in the lamp holders (for parts), i know he has no interest in the lens frames.

Scott- thanks, you are correct, I might be interested in the back sides, and not the lenses. I am now able to disassemble the lights and use parts for restorations of other lights that may need a piece or part here or there.

However, if they are not too badly broken up, it is possible to restore the pair and start a new cycle of life for them in someone's coupe. These look basically intact, though pretty sad and dull. But I am very comfortable with 'sad and dull' as this is where my enthusiasm and skills take flight!

My investment is largely labor and not cash, but I am happy to discuss a joint effort with you, shorton540. Perhaps I can restore and sell them here, then share the proceeds with you and the forum? You can of course sell the lenses separately, it looks like they are getting attention on the forum for possible chroming and such. I have also seen folks replacing the lens sections too... what else can you do when they are NLA?

We should take this discussion off line of course, in the event you are interested.

Andy
