An opportunity has arose to acquire a car I’ve been after for a while, so I need to raise the capital by selling a few cars. Unfortunately, the 2800 I just bought will have to go in addition to a 69 Jaguar XKE. Anyway, I’ll post up more tomorrow (away from my computer right now) but here’s some details and I do have a thread on buying it if you search under my username.

-Baikal Blue, Tan interior
-6th from the last 2800CSA built
-original engine, typical blown head gasket (head removed)
-AM/FM, full power windows, A/C
-Rust in the front fascia, nose, wiper motor pocket among other places, but far from a rust bucket (will show pics)
-Rear brake internals removed so the car can roll.

Asking $15,000 OBO. Pics to follow tomorrow when I get home.

Some more pics! Man, lots of emails. Guess there’s not many out there to chose from!

Rust: the front panel between the radiator and header panel has rot which lead to the front nose and lower valance having rot. These will need to be replaced. The trunk drip trough has rust which has lead to a very small hole in the spare tire well. The wiper motor area has a hole. The real bad problem areas; front strut towers, rear strut towers, rockers, subframe mounts, door jambs, are all good. Doors shut like a new car and all glass is in great shape. Windshield isn’t original, but the rest has correct markings of original make.

More. Cylinder head is removed but I can loosely reassemble the top of the motor for shipping.

Final notes. The car was owned by a Doctor here in Azle, TX. He parked it in 1986 after the head gasket blew. Sat inside, then outside, then inside again until last year when a guy bought it. The original owner moved and lost the title, so a bonded title was issued which is how I bought it. After 3yrs, the bond disappears And I have the paperwork. Still a clear, blue Texas title with no issues. Owner I got it from decided it was too much of a project for him. I realized after looking it over, shutting the doors, and attractiveness of the car I could easily handle it. Then a Z8 popped up and I need that car!!

My plan with this was a drivetrain swap and a few other things then just drive it as-is. It’s a great start!

cheers

I like that idea! The car would have a bigger crowd around it than the near perfect cars at a show, and no one would be obnoxiously critiquing the headlight dates and incorrect fastener markings.

ya, I have a hole about the size of a dime under the wiper motor.

That's an area that collects water like crazy and the E9 poor design doesn't drain there very well.

I’m just surprised it didn’t rot the floor. Bonus!

This is Texas so everything is bigger. One day of TX sun equals 3yrs of y’all’s regular sun! o_O :p

cheers

Wow. Now that's funny. I got what I wanted out of it, and I'm surprised they listed it for that amount. No way, IMO, but you never know. Love the description: comes with windshield, tires, flaky paint and dust. Really? Ya don't say!

Cheers

That guy Alex Manos buys everything. And I mean everything. He is an equal-opportunity sort of guy. Some friends of mine sold him a Triumph that had visible rust everywhere and numerous issues besides. It really was just a parts car. They told him this. He wasn't interested in photos and bought it sight-unseen. I mean, he doesn't pay top dollar either, so there's that. But it's like he's a clearinghouse for cars -- good, bad, and ugly (usually ugly). I like perusing his listings sometimes anyway.
