Heated Rear Window

Mine is really bad to non-existent. The switch works and there is voltage to the screen when its pressed. Are there any tips to getting this function working better?

Will fitting a relay help or is it just 1970's tech not being that good?

Do you have a photo of where the wiring comes into the fuse area? I'm having a tough time identifying mine. Yes, I think a relay would be the trick to it working

Check continuity at the window where wire enters and exits, you may have a broken grid on the glass.

the wire is printed on the glass on the inside (cabin). these little lines are not very sturdy, a hard object scraping the glass can simply push out a section of the wire. There is silverpaint that is specific to repair such snipped, printed wires. apply with a hairline brush or needle to get a continuous, hardly noticeable line.
