Hi all doing a front end rebuild and break job on my 1972 E3 Bavaria and I’m realizing finding front rotors for this thing has become quite difficult. Anybody have a source? New old stock? Used? I don’t care.....I’ve attached images of the OEM rotors and measurements. any info would be greatly appreciated.

This might help. I’ll check this out thanks chope97. I sourced through rock auto the raybestos 9841R rotors but they are the wrong fit for the bav.

Thanks restart, chope97 mentioned this link above. I’ve looked into it and I’m skeptical there correct. The only dimensional description they give is the outer diameter of 11.02” (27.9cm) if you look at the pic of what I’ve received from RockAuto in regards to Raybestos #9841R and those dimensions being the same outer diameter as the eBay Raybestos link you sent me, I’m thinking there wrong.

I talked to the fellas at Maximillion Importing and they couldn’t even find the correct OEM rotors for the Bavaria any more. Just this Raybestos number keeps coming up and there not correct. They mentioned they’ve had this same complaint a few times now!

the outer diameter of the OEM solid rotor measurement I took is 27cm (10.6”)

this might be a possible issue for E3 owners in the future when doing front break jobs....

So I was digging through the ETK and here is what I come up with:

Solid front rotors 08/68-02/77 part number 34 11 1 152 089 NLA
Front pads- couldn't find a part # in ETK but they should be in the orange books, probably NLA

Interestingly the rear pads and rotors are still available from BMW, they may be used on other cars.

Rear rotor part # 34 21 1 163 131
Rear pad set part # 34 21 1 159 265

Both of the above are stocked in the US.

Those are correct part numbers, original ones were superseded. Fits 2800CS, all US e3 (euro S, Si and L have vented) and 75/76 e12.

Pelican says they are available...

Is there enough "meat" on your current rotors that they could be safely turned?
I’d feel I’m right on the cusp, rotor says 11.7mm min, when i measured it looked like 11.5mm. I’d need to properly measure again. The issue I’m having is the hard time with trying to source these bloody things now. you’d think a high wear item like a rotor would be out there....

Be wary of Pelican, ECS, and Turner, all owned by the same ocmpany and notorious for saying things are "in stock" then taking weeks/months to ship or to finally say NLA
Ok thanks for the heads up I have a couple leads from some of our fellows and I’m waiting to hear back from Jim at Mesa. Might be the better route to take
