I'm sure to elicit lots of opinions on this but I have a dilema; I just had my A/C "overhauled" by our local guru -Terry Sayther's guys- It was all but replaced after not functioning for ???years. The A/C works great and on the 25 mile drive home my right arm had goose bumps while my left leg felt like it was under a magnifying glass. The outsidetemp was a balmy 101F. I hate the idea but I may have to have the windows tinted. This car is supposed to carry me to and from work every day so interior comfort is really important. Before I start shopping for tint I thought I would ask for suggestions/opinions. I included a shot for color.

Thanks

I would look into the clear UV coatings they have now which would help a lot but not darken the glass which I am not a fan of.

A properly working AC system in a coupe should freeze your right arm and knee while allowing the rest of your body to suffer.
No better than leaning against a 20 # bag of ice.

Maybe a 10# bag of ice to lean your left side on will help!?
Other than that, the clear UV film....

I would try a fan to push air from the center to the driver side.
People behind tinted glass have something to hide.

Interesting idea from BMW's own rendition- side vents for the AC main vent. I have been planning on this solution for my coupe

Hmm, an interesting modification. Two questions:

- Do you think the original motor & fan put out enough CFM to distribute air to the sides, as well as the center?

- How would you duct the air to the sides, and where would you mount the side vents? It would seem that the door that accesses the hood release and fuses would interfere on the driver's side. And, the glove box on the passenger's side.

Not trying to sound negative, just wondering if anyone has pursued this further.

I'm planning on ducting to the foot well on my side only. ;-)

its been a long time since i owned a bavaria ,,, but don't they have ducted side vents. if so, we need to start harvesting this piece from e3's

I find mine is OK around town in the same heat (150 miles east of you). Most of the time I can run it on "low" (first detent), only rarely do I have to go full on.

Are you running R-12 or R-134? It will never cool you off if you have 134.

I'd recommend doing the heater bypass first, that removes a lot of interior heat.

Also, don't park in the sun, it's nearly impossible to cool the car off if it's been parked in the sun for more than a few minutes
