Had an unusual encounter this weekend. Was parking my car in grocery store lot and an old retired couple saw my car and gave me the thumbs up etc. We got chatting and turns out they had a 73 2800 they used but unfortunately it was written off in an accident. The guy kept the engine though and rebuilt it. He says it has 75 miles on it since rebuild. Turns out this guy is ex airplane enginner and spends his time fixing old rolls royces - he has 2 1950s in his garage and about 8 vintage bikes which he races at bonneville each year....
Anyway to cut a long story short he offered me his engine but i dont need one so i said i would ask the forum if there was any interest. His name is tom mellor and you can google him. If you are interested i can provide his phone number. I askedhow much he was looking for and he said $7k. I said that sounded steep given you can get a used one or 3k or so....
I only just met this guy briefly, no affiliation etc etc
