Lokari

There are a set of Lokari front wheel liners that have been sold recently in the parts section. It seems to me that many of our European brethren believe that the Lokari liners are a necessity, while others of us don't seem to be sold on it. When I did a search on our forum. Murray Fowler believed that any type of liner would ultimately have accumulated road debris trapped behind it, therefore he didn't believe that it would be beneficial, because it just added another layer of stuff you'd have to end up cleaning. You'd have to clean the outside of the liner, then remove the liner and clean underneath it. What do you think ?

i look at it as protection to keep stuff from getting into bad places initially. with these cars, IMHO, you can't be complacent about anything - you have to clean and keep clean. yes if you have a fender liner, you might get something behind it ... but think about what you aren't letting hit the fenders to begin with. i live in an area where it rains a fair amount - socal, not so much. i've hardly been able to drive this summer because we've had 3 times the normal rain.

ask David why he sold his? the reason above is why i bought them ... and i presume the reason that stevehose wanted them as well.

the lokaris are a very good way to avoid dirt entering the dirt trapping zones inside the fender area, diffcult to explain without images, but if you take a look inside you will see two areas prone to dirt and water trapping

well the lokaris are a layer that will divert all that dirt out from there and back to the road

IMHO you do not need to remove them to clean inside, and you dont clean the lokaris, they are aluminium, what you need to do is a very good cleaning and preparation of the inner fender prior to installing them...
