Wow... Compared to the 911 world I've been immersed in, you can't get a set of frigging plug wires for 350 bucks let alone an entire motor! GLWTS

Unfortunately, the USA B34 version of the M30 3.5L is a bit underpowered compared to the others when doing a 3.5L swap.

yes, it will fit in a bavaria. at their best, they only have 170 hp in normal state ... 8:1 compression. if you don't have a decent running engine, it will get it done. you can rebuild them into a decent engine with new pistons, etc (major rebuild).

A m30b35 costs exactly the same and has 26 more hp. Bigger valves, more compression, bigger and better ports, an oil chain tensioner, double valve springs, better cam, better combustion chamber.

Are they hard to find?
they are relatively plentiful as they were in very late 6 series, 5 + 7 series from 89 to early 90's. there are differences in the oil pans and engine mounts. do a search on this forum - 'b35 engine' - posted by sfdon

M30B34 blocks are stamped with second set of numbers/letters below the VIN on the block.
ie 4583542
35 6 K 4
The US/Green motors have "35 6 K @" (@ = internal check digit), the Euro B34s have an E instead of the K, meaning E = Non catylist, K = catylist. The Euro B34 will run circles around the B35, but are too dirty to pass CA smog since they didn't use an O2 sensor.
