fixing the wrong one that i found,
note the string on the valve tool, fiddling with it over there you dont want to lose it down the oil holes of the head





note the bolt and nut that helps checking the direction of turn to lose the nuts, it comes to be very helpful to avoid mistakes

Great photos! You could make a repair and maintenance book better than any currently available.

not sure, there are many nice ones already
as you can see these things do not raise too many comments
it is usually more a cycle, that depends on your personal situation, when you need it you look at your manuals, notes and /or put a question in the forum

in fact i post my details so i will be able to find the information again when the moment comes, if others participate it will be excellent, and of course others can benefit from this common knowledge

how to keep it organised i dont know

Does your bell crank have a stop? Not sure this part was original to my car, but I found an L shaped BMW part that mounts behind the bell crank and stops the travel of the short arm of the bell crank. Not sure if this is an issue with Zeniths, but I wanted a hard stop to prevent stress on the spindles in my Webers when I push the accelerator to the floor.

so good news on the fan installation, it has been a while, but i made a very nice assembly

i have used a box to set inside the relay and the fuse to feed the fan
a straight 4mm2 cable from battery positive to the relay, and activation from thermo switch,
using fuse number 10 out as source for the thermoswitche feed, and placed an idiot light to show when it is working

nice thing about fuse 10 is that gives you +12v when ignition switch is in position II

The stop was added to all 3.0CS

unobtrusive yellow light to show when fan is ON



spade number 2 is power out to fan



fuse box area under dash to get 12volt through fuse 10 to thermoswitch



showing fan connections on 2 for +12volts and neg to ground



mounted with zip ties to give some run trial will see future placement

I'd second TodB regarding on the cam adjustment. With my 100,000 mile E28, until I set the gap on the cam it was always noisy. Used the same safer gap as TodB. The large contact area between the lobe and the pad lets you be more confident about the go/no go accuracy.


The pads are worn on your rockers. No matter what lash number you use it will change when rotating the cam.
