BMW 2004 Automatic 1973

The BMW 2004 was build in Southafrica as an successor of the modell 2000 GL and 2000 SA.

The car has the same engine and transmission as the BMW 2000
4 cyl straight-four engine with 1.990 ccm engine size (Bohrung/bore × Hub/stroke = 89 mm × 80 mm) and 100 PS (74 kW) at 5.800 min-1
4-Gear-shift (Typ 2004) or 3-gear-automatic (Typ 2004 A).

Body is a 4-door sedan based on the Glas 1700.
The front has the grill and the turn signals of the BMW 2800 CS in comparsion with the double headlights of the E12 BMW 520, ditto the taillights

Within 2 years 1.404 examples were build, 588 with automatic.​

It looks like someone half-melted an E12. Very strange. Thanks for sharing, I never heard of this model.

South Africa always seemed to get the special models, like the M88-powered 745s.
