New Trunk Interior Material

If you need the plastic panels that wrap around the shock towers, just know that they are different on 1974 US cars.

I believe that is precisely what I need. I do have a 1974 as well. I cannot get over the level of knowledge and details you guys remember. Thank you so much. Going to have to take a picture of the interior of the trunk and determine what needs to be replaced. I had no idea how much work there was involved with a minor restoration. I feel like tracking down parts is taking up a significant portion of my life but much less then it would without your help. Thank you very much. Are there any sources for 1974 inserts that you know of or is this the best way to go about it?

Mine are missing on my '74, and I've been told they make hen's teeth look common. With only 375 e9s imported in that year, finding good used will be tough, and NOS highly unlikely. Good luck with the search. Painting the wheel housings to match the gray of the side and floor panels looks good, if you aren't going for concours-perfect.

I am not going for a concourse queen. Your solution make sense to me. Thank you.

Scott, the wheel well surrounds are specific to a '74. the ones from '69 to '73 will not fit on your coupe due to the bumper bracking behind the wheel wells. you have to remember that the rest of the world did not have said bracing ... so any euro '74 would be the same as a '73 usa or earlier.

So there really are only a total of 375 in existence.?

Euro 74s did not have that bracket.

I say, whack it so you can fit normal covers (are the repops worthy?) on there .

Gray paint ? The horror !

i wonder if ever anybody made wheel well reproductions covers ? will be not that easy to make.
And with time they all have harden ... so most ( all ? ) are cracked somewhere i 'm afraid.
Perhaps some garage queens have them still in "good" condition... ?
My 2 E9's had them... they broke like glass ... to put them in the carbage bag :)

Did you tell the shop to remove the rear side-body reinforcements as part of your bumper conversion? These braces do NOT need to be removed to retrofit the earlier bumpers. But if they are removed then you trunk trim needs will be in line with the earlier cars. Easy job to remove the braces (1 hours plus a little seam sealer & paint for touch up).

I never would have thought of that. If this is done you can get reproduction fender liners.

the fender portion is a separate piece triangle you can make
just get the elephant skin and cover a piece of fiberboard with foam between
simple thats the oem in my 74
also the 74 has a piece of welting at the top to cover the edge
