Is there a cross-reference list between the BMW paint names (Fjord, Nevada, Malaga, etc..) and codes at the major paint manufacturers?
Or would DuPont exactly know what to mix if I asked for BMW color Nevada?
Any info is appreciated.

Start with the three digit BMW number, Malaga is 021, Polaris is 060, etc. The part books also listed another number which often times helps, Mesa Performace did this for my 2002 which is Manila. Or try www.autocolorlibrary.com. HTH

Dupont paint reference

http://pc.dupont.com/dpc/en/US/html/visitor/b/dr/home.html Historical paint data, then complete year and make.

Yes, they would know by year and color name or code. Nevada is 001. Each of the major paint suppliers have thier own additional paint reference numbers though so you might want to print out the image with the Dupont code and mix ratio from thier archive.

If you can find any part or piece with the original color it might help as some colors shade a bit lighter or darker.

PPG, Sikkens and BASF also have the codes. For those of you not familiar with Sikkens, it is expensive but an extremely high end product.
