Hi there good E9 people.

I'm selling a bunch of stuff on the Australian E9 owners facebook site. Trouble is I don't know what they are worth. If there are some out there who are savvy with market prices I would appreciate your advice. Some of the items -

Original 4 speed box VGC
Getrag 265 / 5 speed box from an '79 528i. This is the one you need for a 5 speed conversion. New seals and fully checked over by a specialist.
Set of Zenith carbs. Came from a running car but haven't run for 18 years.
Manual steering box.
Rear seats in VGC.
Rear side arm rests. Schwartz
Centre arm rest. Schwartz
Rear side cards with chrome trim. Schwartz
Front seat cores. Can be used for mechanism parts and re-horse hairing. ( Re-horse hairing?? Can you say that? )
Fuel tank. Has a dent but repairable.
A beat up glove box.
Nardi replica ( Not a real Nardi )
A few tail lights. Plus the new lenses that the Aussie guy made.
Original headlights.
Console sides.
Complete heater box with control cables.
40cm Petri in outstanding condition including hub and new BMW button. ( I have a very good 38cm on my car courtesy of Keshav )
Nardi in excellent condition including hub and Nardi button.

There are more but these are the main items. I want to be fair with the prices however I have been screwed by people who "really needed" a part for their E9 only to find that they flipped it after I helped them with a give away price. So market price is a reasonable ask and a dissuasion to flippers.

I would advertise on the E9coupe site but with transport difficulties and costs I thought the Aussies should have first go.

Thanks in advance.

I assume you refer to a “79 528i”

Standard sides unfortunately. Left over from I converted to air con. With work you could modify them. What have you got to lose except for the exorbitant price I will charge?
I have standard sides, but understand the “modification” process to AC sides is not easy.

In my experience, the four speed box and zenith carbs are nearly worthless.

THe manual steering box is intriguing. Of course the 40 cm foam Petri is valuable, going rate 1000-1500 usd

I threw away the US original headlights I removed from my car about a month ago, thinking them worthless. Last week, somebody posted a link to an ebay auction in which the seller got $250 for a set.

I think that is true except that the worm gear/speedo cable gear are worth keeping. I would think the output flange might also be valuable. These are also things we always retain when trashing an '02 4-speed.

i agree with this, and i add on the zeniths, not everyone will think that they are worthless

if you are a real e9 carb connoisseur you will pay for a good pair, moreover considering that your local market will be very limited offer

modification to AC is not complex, but it might be a bit of work
problem is that that you will probably destroy the black cover, and that you probably need to put a new one
i have done it, there are some threads about it

I don't remember what I paid for it, but the heater box with cables is probably more valuable than you may think. I bought mine because I know that the foam insulation in the one in my car is gone by now, and that the box needs to be disassembled in order to redo the insulation. I bought a second box so that I could have the rebuild completed and the part ready to install before taking my dash apart.

Do you, by chance, know what car the Zenith INAT are from (engine, gearbox, year of prod.)? There are so many different versions.

Hi Gazz,

Is it the standard 4 speed E9 gearbox? I wonder would it be the same as they used in CSLs?

How much?

Having just had a gearbox self-destruct (on another car) and the effort and expense needed on locating and importing new cogs and other parts. I kind of like the idea of having a spare E9 gearbox lying around.

Have a look on Gumtree under -

BMW E9 / E3 4 speed gearbox

Shows part # 262.0.200.00R - and serial numbers so do your research.

Be quick as there is a fair bit of interest. I don't have the speedo drive.
