Hi All. The new year has brought some new perspectives on cars and projects and focus. I’ve realized that I have enough projects to last me through retirement and well past my expiration date. I’m only 53 so that might give you insights into how many projects I actually have. Also, I’m looking further my M1 procar bastard project and to upgrade the avionics in my Mooney M20e. Reality has set in in on dreams and my focus has shifted a bit. As such, I’ve decided to release two coupes that I’ve been hoarding for a few years and in the process gain a new friend. This seems to happen ever time I sell a car and makes selling not such a sad thing. One is a Chamonix 1968 2000 cs with a blue interior and the other is a Polaris 1973 3.0 cs with a red interior (which I personally have never cared for in the least). Both cars are non running project cars and basically complete. The 3.0 has had some work but seems solid. The 2000 has some rough rust. I basically bought it to cut the roof off and use to repair the 3.0.

I’d like to sell them as a package. I also have several engine /transmission options available if someone wanted them. M90 with close ratio 265 or wide ratio. B34 or B35, S50 with zf310, S54 with zf320, or even S38 (remember that the word hoarder was used earlier). Additionally, I have several wheel options one might sway me to sell including 16” BBS RS or 17” style 5. Plus some other e34 options.

I’ll attach some basic photos here and if you are interested in these cars you can pm me. I don’t really know their value as the market is wild. Project cars like the 3.0 seem to be harder to find in decent complete status. Contrary to the absolute dumpster fire trash regularly sold for top dollar by the Beverly Hills Car Club (sorry if you have an affiliation but we all know it’s true).

I figured I’d start the process where I hope it ends, on the E9 forum. Thanks, Mark

Both cars looks decent base for restoration. For EU/UK condition they are very nice base. I'd love to have such E9 as a starting point (of course always could be a better one to start with)

I hope you will sell both without any problems.

Wish you a great deal!

First off, thank you for balancing my internal struggles about being car crazy. Your collection puts things into perspective and lets me rationalize adding to mine.

Are any of the E24's in the pics available?

The procar is really a bucket list project for me. I’ve had it the longest. Well before m1s went stratospheric. It started with a legitimate search for an M1. I had found a car that was near $60 k. I was young and didn’t earn much at the time so it was beyond my reach (hind sight tells me my thought was right on target and that I should have done whatever to make it happen-hard when your 26 or so) as a consolation prize this body was listed in the roundel and I bought it after pictures were sent to me (pre cell phone image sending). As such it’s a complete bastard project that I’ve been building very very slowly. I hope to drive it hard and show people what one looks and sounds like in person. It’s a long way off.

Admittedly, I’ve kept this project under wraps as it really never will be a true M1. It could be looked at very negatively by many people. Specifically those who own true cars and BMW itself. On the other hand, most all car guys would love to see it driving around and have the keys thrown to them. I hope to drive it at 10/10ths and share in the beauty of the design. Also, I hope to bring some of the original aura of this flawed and magnificent low production number car to people who’ve never seen one in person- and especially not driving on the road.

Currently I’ve got the engine and transaxle along with all of the suspension, spindles and brakes. The next step is to put all the pieces together in the chassis and buck the body up to it. Too bad it takes so little time to talk about it and so very much to make it happen with precious little time.

Your e9 is a 72 based on the bumpers and EPA/DOT sticker on driver side fender. Good luck, hope they find another good home.
Astute you are! Typing on a small I pad sometimes has me hitting keys next to each other. My level of knowledge isn’t that deep. I’m impressed-yet one more time with the knowledge and attention to detail found here,
