My 3.0CSI was running smooth and flawless , until I installed my new radio in dash and used fuse #8 as on/off power source . after installation is finished , I started the car and it was running very ruff and black smoke coming out of tail pipe. I checked the fuse box noticed fuse # 6 auto choke has no wires attached to it. thinking that I may have disconnected the #6 wire , I looked every where , but nothing is there. So I went under neath the back seat to check the wiring of the box ( I don't know the name of it) nothing seemed out of place , there is a little knob in the back of the box , thinking that it may be fuse ,I turned it over and over in each direction .... AM I OVER MY HEAD on this one?? I checked the small relay box next to it in the back seat and no voltage is showing in my voltage meter .... any suggestions?? did I screw up the setting by turning the knob?? Car was running bad before I touched it ..... My Sunday has a bad start.

You turned the ECU knob ,

Only the E9 specialist , Gods are allowed to touch that part !

Was this photo taken of the knob on the ECU before or after you turned it???

There is no auto choke on a csi
Chokes are in carburetors
Csi is injected

Where are you?

I am in Oman working.

You're seriously up the creek now. I suggest you employ several witch doctors, a faith healer, a vodoo specialist and if that doesn't work (it won't) then quadruple your stated value on the car and get 5 gallons of gas and a very long match...

Hi there.
If your car was running well before you wired up the radio and then did not run well as soon as you wired up the radio.

I would suggest firstly disconnect the new wiring for your radio. ( make sure you have no bare ended positive wires hanging about , as if they make contact with any ground you could burn the car to the ground !!! )
Then start the car to see how it runs .
If it is not running well , try and remember approximately how many turns of the adjuster on the fuel injection module under the back seat you turned. And while the car is running turn that adjuster back the opposite way , by that amount of turns.
It could get the car running correctly.
Or at least a bit better until you can bring it to someone who can actually adjust it correctly.
After it is fixed and only after it is fixed , have another go at wiring up your radio.
Ps . My car is a csi also, but is a non running restoration project, so I am just thinking logically, and not from personal experience !
Good luck, with it.

I was thinking that, but then the car should run fine when warmed up. Does it?
In playing with wiring, it is really easy to disconnect a wire from the back of the fuse box, it may not be disconnected, just askew enough to cause an issue. I suggest you first pull all the fuses, clean all the connections, do the same on the back and then place all the fuses back.......with the right ones based on your fuse diagram. No way you got all the fuses right with that rainbow of fuse colors in your pic. WRT the ECU, send a limo to the airport to get sfdon.

Seriously. Don't touch anything else. Just stop. Call Don or Bill Arnold and get the car taken there. If you know nothing about D-jet you can do much more harm than good fiddling with things. Once it's running well, do not touch anything... Seriously. It's sensitive and parts are non-existant..

Cold start makes little to no impact in SF. It's 60 degrees here today. Black smoke belching is serious rich condition.

Its quite possible that the rough running problem is unrelated to wiring your radio. You have very knowledgeable mechanics close by (SFDon or Bill Arnold in San Rafael) who will be able to sort out. We all know the frustration of not being able to solve an issue that afflicts our vehicles. Tough to be our normal selves when it happens:
