In order to keep as much water out of the sills as possible I wanted to replace the tired squeegee on the outside of the rear windows. After a bit of searching, I bought the replacement that Coupeking sells.

I drilled out the old rivets and removed the old rubber. But I ran into a problem when trying to install the new one. The rivets that hold that piece to the chrome piece need to be trimmed on both sides. On the outside so they don't scratch the window and on the inside so the chrome can be squeezed against the body work. But the pop rivets I have are clean on one side but the remainder of the rivet head on the other side protrudes inward a bit. See photos of new rivet on one side vs old one from the other side.

How are you supposed to attach this replacement squeegee? Do you need a special kind of rivet? Do you need to manually trim the back of the rivets and try to flatten the remaining section?

Thank you.
