Rubber seal question for Driver door

When driving the other day I noticed an air leak coming through by my door and when I opened the door I realized a section of rubber is missing from the rubber seal of my door . Is there supposed to be a special section fits in between or did something just fall out? I always thought the seal was one piece?

that piece can fall out. i saw it fall out on another coupe when i opened the door. unfortunately they don't sell that one piece. you have to but the gasket for the entire door. which is about $200 or so. no idea if anybody parting a car might have that piece in reasonable shape or not.

Would anybody out there have a parts car that might have this so I don't have to buy the whole new rubber seal

Ben at LaJolla Independent (1-858-488-1555) sold me a piece of door seal for this problem on my passenger side.
