So where exactly do i need to recess the firewall so the engine will fit

On the backside of the head there is a coolant pipe that might hit the firewall. Some have said they needed to indent the firewall to clear and others have said it fit without doing anything.
If you search these forms there is a bunch of good info on this swap. rb1971 gives a lot of good information.
My S38 is sitting on the stand next to the car. Hopefully it I will have it in the car this spring. I have not modified the firewall yet. I'm going to see what happens when I install the engine.
