Marked everything before removal but is there a specific way to line up the center link, box and steering wheel. Common sense says set wheels straight ahead with center link disconnected from steering arm/box, then reconnect to box and if need be, remove and re-set steering wheel to center. I did this but on full left turn, the box arm comes about 1cm short of hitting the stop that is welded to the subframe. Expected?

Hi bavbob,

I am going to replace my steering box this spring with a bench tested and lower mileage unit. I am wondering how you pulled the steering box out? Was the motor in or out? I am thinking about suspending the engine with ratchet straps from a wood crossmember across the engine bay, undoing the strut mounts from the upper fender/engine bay, and dropping the subframe (sans wheels of course).

Any input is appreciated.

Bill
