No, not the provocative dance, I'm talking about the resilient gasket like strip that's originally found between the top of front fenders where they meet the top of the wheel wells. This strip appears to act like a moisture sponge to insure accelerated rust throughout it's length.

Anyway, I've never seen anyone make reference to the strip's replacement during restoration. Instead, welding the two components together. What is the best way to insure integrity of reassembly of the front clip to the body? Anyone? Thx!

If you weld the fender to the inner panel it will be really painful to get the distortion out of the fender.

I used Life Caulk to stick them together. It is the same material that is used to glue a stern-drive to a boat hull. I should be fairly water proof.
