Video's- proper extension?

It says to post videos in the video section.
I tried to load a video from an iphone with the .mov extension and it said that was not recognized.
What extensions are?
So I have to convert to another format to upload?

When I save iPhone videos to my laptop I have to change the extension. I think I use Windows media player which is .wmv?

I found it easiest to upload to YouTube and then post a link.

Thanks guys. Tried what Chris said and Windows Media Player keeps saying "not responding" after 3 tries I gave up....... for now.

I've done the YouTube with link, too. Not sure the forum site can handle the large video files.
