Also want to know if there is some trick to fabricating the section n the trunk near the tail lights. What gives the material its stiffness? Wood, particle board? Starch????
The board itself is made of good old cardboard. A local coupe owner gave me a disintegrating panel from a parts car and I took it to an auto upholsterey shop who then used it as a template to make a new one. It was harder than he imagined and ended up costing $300! It has to be steamed on the upper edge to fit the contour of the tail panel. I provided the elephant skin to him that I had bought from Veteran Co. in Dec 2005. Apparently I bought it before it became extinct.
as for the rear trim piece . . has anyone found a replacement . . and or is there signifigant interest to reporoduce these out of a contemporary material?
