wtf - manual

All jokes aside, am I missing something re workshop manuals: why wouldn't you just buy the Faxon reproduction manuals for $99? If originals are soooo precious it seems to me that you would buy the reproductions anyway to avoid damaging the originals, assuming you actually use the things for their intended purpose that is, in which case, what is the real value of the originals? I don't get it.

Gazz,

this is a joke. you can buy the real manuals for between $100 and $250. the paper in the repros is copy paper - which is thin, stains and tears easily. the originals have a waxy / heavy paper.

Where can I get these? I will need them soon.

best thing to do is to post a WTB post in the parts forum. what year is your car? i have a second set, but it doesn't have all of the later addendum.

GAZZ,

BTW, i really don't want to sell my second set - its the one i lend to my mechanic if needed.

melbourne car ?

Looking at one in Melbourne on Tuesday but it needs to be very very good to best another one I have found locally.

Do you have a particular Melbourne car in mind? If you know of one for sale it would be a great opportunity to see it while I'm down there.

BTW whereabouts are you on the Gold Coast?

Gazz,

In Melbourne are you looking at the golf yellow CSA with the black leather interior?

If you need an expert opinion while in Melbourne I would recommend Bill from IDB on Little Butler St in Richmond.

It belongs to a guy on the forum who also owns and an inka CSL.

Cheers,

IDB is where I'll be viewing the car.
The yellow is one of two but on Bill's advice the other one, a Polaris CS, is the better of them.

While I've got your attention Rod, what did you do for an air cleaner with your triple Weber set up? ( Been talking to Simon at RX ). And how did you clear the thermostat housing?

Gazz,

Say hello to Bill for me.

My triple webers have mesh filters on them. They are race car style which slip onto each throat.

Weber to thermostat housing interference all depends on which manifold you find for the webers. I made up a cad drawing of a 41-45mm (from memory) stand-off for the thermostat housing. I got an aluminium part water cut from the CAD plan. I put in some longer studs into the head and shortened one leg of hose which goes to the water pump and the radiator (on the left) and lengthened the hose which goes to the radiator on the right.

Cheers,

Rod
