Center tie rod

Hi everyone,

I bought a new center tie rod from W&N. It was delivered with some seal/cap over the joint.
Is it supposed to be there when assembled or is this just protection during transportation?

It should be there to cover the felt Seal,

I think the idea is that you want something to keep grit etc from getting into the spherical end of the tapered bolt, causing wear and looseness. If you think the felt seal is sufficient, pitch the black cap into the weeds prior to install.
