Trying to install Stahl headers

I was part of that group buy on Stahl headers recently. I'm having trouble getting the headers to clear the transmission mount. You can see in this photo where it's hitting:



Here is the part I need to thin out:

I think grinding this down is going to weaken it too much. Has anyone come up with a different solution ? I was thinking if the motor mounts were just a little thinner the header would clear the transmission. But I don't know if there is a way to drop the motor about 1/2". Not sure what to do here...

I would try the aluminium trans mount from an E24 or even a E28 - although being thicker under the box, it's a bit thinner at the ends due to not having the s-profile.

The big advantage is that this mount also has two mounting points for trans rubbers which might be of interest if you have a 5-speed or upgraded engine...
