i would never attempt that
i repainted over the existing one

The existing was all over scuffed arround the key.
The texture is not perfect like original i think, so therefor i ask.

Looks great @Breiti!

I too have paint loss from various spots on the cover. I did in-fill some paint, because I was concerned about being able to match the finish.

What paint or process did you use to get the result?

That is Mipa PU 330-20 2K-PU-Strukturbeschichtung.
3 bar/ 43 psi pressure 2.5mm nozzle.
Spray gun.
2 layer.

Picked up the shortened drive shaft today.
Fresh balanced, new center bearing new rubber bearing in the 3 arm fresh paint.

And all that done in just 1 day by the shop

Installed the new dual circuit brake servo and made a start on wiring.
Please note the environmentally friendly engine mount as I'm still working out lowering the engine so it doesn't smash the hood on full load

Last Sunday I turned my clock ahead one hour for Daylight Savings time.......That $500 + quartz movement is very accurate....
